David M. Andersen

University Counsel

David joined BYU's Office of the General Counsel in 2016 to enhance the university-wide compliance program by providing legal awareness, training, implementation, assessment, and response support. He received a B.S. in Business Management, with an emphasis in Information Systems, cum laude, from the Marriott School of Management at BYU, and a J.D., magna cum laude, from the J. Reuben Clark Law School, where he served as Executive Editor of the BYU Law Review. After graduating from law school in 2006, David served as a law clerk to the Hon. J.L. Edmondson, then chief judge of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, in Atlanta Georgia. David practiced as an associate in the litigation department at Jennings Strouss & Salmon in Phoenix, Arizona. He later became a partner at Bacal Andersen & Garrison Law Group in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he practiced intellectual property litigation and administration. David is licensed to practice law in Arizona and Utah.
