David M. Andersen

David joined BYU's Office of the General Counsel in 2016 and currently serves as the chair of the Litigation Practice Group, managing litigation and claims for BYU, BYU–Hawaii, BYU–Idaho, and Ensign College. He also manages the OGC’s law clerk program. David received a B.S. in Business Management, with an emphasis in Information Systems, cum laude, from the BYU Marriott School of Business, and a J.D., magna cum laude, from BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, where he served as Executive Editor of the BYU Law Review. After graduating from law school in 2006, David served as a law clerk to the Hon. J.L. Edmondson, then chief judge of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, in Atlanta, Georgia. David practiced as an associate in the litigation department at Jennings Strouss & Salmon in Phoenix, Arizona. He later became a partner at Bacal Andersen & Garrison Law Group in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he practiced intellectual property litigation and administration. David is licensed to practice law in Arizona and Utah.
