Trent joined the Office of General Counsel in 2025. He received a B.A., magna cum laude, in English from Brigham Young University in 2011, and a J.D., with Honors, from the University of Chicago Law School in 2014, where he was a staff editor on the Law Review. After law school, Trent practiced securities litigation at the law firm of WilmerHale in Washington, D.C., followed by a clerkship with Judge D. Brooks Smith of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Trent then worked as an associate attorney at the Denver law firm Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell, LLP, and as a litigation partner at Hilgers Graben in Lincoln, Nebraska. Trent is licensed to practice law in Arizona, Colorado, and Nebraska. While his application to practice law in Utah is pending, his work is supervised by attorneys licensed in Utah.
